I started in animation.
Then came multimedia.
Web.
Interactive experiences.
Digital products.
Advertising.
Brand communication.
Creative leadership.
From the outside, that can look like a collection of unrelated jobs.
It never felt unrelated to me.
Each discipline changed the way I looked at the next one.
Animation taught movement.
Web taught interaction.
Product design taught usability.
Advertising taught ideas.
Leadership taught me how other people make ideas better.
The advantage of moving across disciplines is not knowing everything.
It is learning how different disciplines solve problems.
A designer asks one kind of question.
A developer asks another.
A strategist sees another layer.
A filmmaker sees time.
A marketer sees the business.
When these perspectives meet, the work gets richer.
That is why I don’t think multidisciplinary experience is about being a generalist.
It is about becoming better at connecting things.
