The Portfolio Shows What You Made. It Doesn’t Show How You Think.

The Portfolio Shows What You Made. It Doesn’t Show How You Think.

A portfolio can show a beautiful campaign.

It can show a website.
A film.
A logo.
A social post.

But the most interesting part is often invisible.

It can show a website.A film.A logo.A social post.

Why did you make that choice?

What problem were you solving?
What did you notice?
What changed because of the idea?

Two people can show the same kind of work and reveal completely different levels of thinking.

That is why a portfolio should not only be a gallery.

It should leave clues about the person behind the work.

How do they frame problems?
What do they value?
What do they notice?
How do they make decisions?

The older your career becomes, the more this matters.

Craft still matters.

But people hiring senior creatives are also looking for judgement.

The work is evidence.

The thinking is the story.
